
Turmeric in Ayurveda
We wrap up our Kitchen Herbals series with turmeric – a herb that has antifungal, antibacterial, antidiabetic, antiseptic and antioxidant properties.
Relieving sore throat
Add a quarter of a teaspoon of turmeric powder and salt each into a glass of boiled water. Gargle with this water.
Improving respiratory infection
Add one teaspoon of turmeric powder into a glass of boiled milk. Drink.
Treating osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis
Take a glass of water mixed with 300mg of turmeric powder daily.
Boosting immunity
Add one teaspoon of turmeric powder into a glass of boiled milk. Let it cool down. Once cooled down, add half a teaspoon of honey. Drink.
Treating allergic conditions in both adults and infants
Mix 50g of turmeric powder, 10g of black pepper and 20g of ghee. Take one teaspoon of the mixture with a glass of hot milk twice daily for one month.
Increasing facial glow and fighting acne
Add 2-5 drops of milk into one teaspoon of turmeric powder. Make a paste out of it and apply.
Healing wounds
Dust turmeric powder into boiled water and wash any external wounds with it.
Improving infant immunity
Add a quarter of a teaspoon of turmeric powder to a teaspoon of melted ghee. Let your child consume it.
